We are excited to offer a new and amazing dance style at the Mountain View location!
Bollywood dancing is a colorful, dynamic, and highly theatrical dance style seen in Indian films. It combines classical forms of dance including traditional Indian, folk, salsa, and belly-dance, while also incorporating more contemporary western forms such as hip hop, jazz, and funk.
Meet our Bollywood teacher Nikhita Panjnani!
Nikhita has been a dancer ever since she was a little girl twirling around to her favorite Bollywood songs! She is classically trained in Bharatnatyam, and she completed her solo Arangetram (a two-and-a-half-hour-long graduation dance recital) in 2017. She then worked as a choreographer and technique assistant teacher for intermediate and advanced students. She has also studied, performed, and choreographed various Indian folk dances, including a piece that played a part in winning her the title of Junior Miss Asia Oklahoma (2018-2019), a platform she used to advocate for the importance of passion and individualization in education. Nikhita is currently a Junior at Santa Clara University, where she is majoring in English with minors in Creative Writing and Theatre. She is also an ardent reader, musician, singer, and songwriter, and the incoming Editor in Chief of SCU’s global literary magazine, the Santa Clara Review. She is so excited and grateful to be sharing the joy of Bollywood dance with WVDC!
